      League officers listed.
1917-5-03 (Fox Lake) Roster examined position by position. Season begins 5-06.
"The base ball suits arrived first of the week and are very nice looking outfits. The suits are a blue-gray with a narrow navy stripe, navy cap, belt and stockings. A monogramed F. L. set in a light gray circle adorns the left hand side of the shirts. When dolled up in the new outfits Fox Lake will have a team that looks like a ball team anyway.
The time limit of May 1st in which the local club had to collect the money to finance the ball team found the local club in pretty good shape financially. All of the fans in the village, and many who were not fans, donated liberally and about $600 has been raised. The other towns in the league have raised amounts ranging from $700 to $1,000 so Fox Lake is as yet a trifle shy financially in comparison with the others. The club wishes to thank all who have subscribed to the fund and assures them that their assistance is appreciated."
    1917-5-04 (Horicon) Season begins 5-06.
Rosters listed, along with their teams last year. Umpires appointed.
        Horicon finances:

        Paid in to date: $321.00
Expenses for tryout April 22: $29.30
        Balance in treasury: $466.99"
1917-6-07 Fox Lake replaced Cadreau with Bill Lathrop, who just threw a shutout.
1917-8-30 On 9-03, Waupun, .5 games behind Horicon for first, will play Watertown, Central League leaders. Admission 35 cents, ladies 25 cents, grand stand 15 cents.
    Juneau-Waupun game forfeited over argument.
    1917-9-11 League was a success.

"Mr. Kroos began by saying considered he was "put on the spot" by being asked to address the big crowd. No finer tribute to the 100th anniversary of the origin of baseball could possibly be made, Mr. Kroos said, than the splendid turnout for the festivities, despite the rain.
"In 1916," he said, "Ed. Larson, Konrad Testwuide and myself first became interested in baseball affairs in Sheboygan. Baseball has been an excellent influence in the city and has been a fine advertisement for Sheboygan."

Notes:

Buster Braun BR "German blond" source

member of nine championship teams in 19 years of pitching - three in Lake Shore League, one in Fox River Valley League, three in Wisconsin-Illinois, and two in American Association.

Story of first pitching appearance in 1910 feels apocryphal : mother died that morning, he wasn't going to go to game, pitcher hurt in car crash, Buster called upon at home by crowd of friends, won 21 inning game 2-1.

    1933 retires

Oscar Johnson

Johnson, Oscar Career pro record of 52-16

1917-3-22 Running a bowling alley in Colby. Was star pitcher for Marshfield a few years ago.
1918-7-11 (Marshfield News-Herald) Quotes Milwaukee Sentinel. Has just left for Milwaukee.
An incredible litany of stats over last two years with Marshfield furnished.
"Furthermore, this budding sensation is 25 years old, but being married is in Class 4, so is immune for the draft, at least for the time being."
1920-10-30 "Oscar Johnson, who has been running a hotel in Manitowoc, sold the business, and returned to this city. He was prominent here a few years ago as the star pitcher of the local baseball club."
1923-2-01 (Marshfield News-Herald) Grand Rapids purchases contract for $500.
"In the post-season game last year he won the series from London in the Ontario League. Oscar was extremely popular with the Ludington team and fans who will regret his leaving. He was known as a heady, consistent player, not the flashy erratic style which is very common in athletics."
Known as "The Terrible Swede." Not very happy to go to Grand Rapids - has a tender spot for Marshfield, and would like to play there again.
"Baseball was as its best in this city when Johnson was on the mound. Two years ago, after receiving Johnson's offer to pitch here, the local management hired an inferior pitcher at the same price."
