1909-12-12 Preview. "After today's game the California players now included in the two squads will be dropped and eastern players will take their places for the final leg of the journey, which includes the cities of Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, San Antonio, Houston and New Orleans among the scheduled dates. Arriving at New Orleans, the teams will play several exhibition games and then disband December 19.
Frank Bancroft has been highly impressed with Southern California, and although the recent rains have put a crimp in the bank roll of the two teams, there wil be no tale of woe carried to eastern ears.
Johnson, Gray, Meyers, Snodgrass, Ellis and Heitmuller will remain in California. It is expected that a strong array of Fullerton fans will occupy seats on the bleachers today to see their townsman, Walter Johnson, perform against the big leaguers."
1909-12-12 LA Herald. Athletics 4, Nationals 3, with Walter Johnson pitching for Nationals.
