Norfolk

1921-4-15 Wilson NC. "It was originally planned to open the season in the Tars' new home but unsettled building and other conditions has made this fact impossible, but local fandom is promised new quarters of appropriate propo tions before the season is over and in the meantime many repairs have been made on the old plant that will make it more acceptable to patrons and players.
During the winter months baseball has been on the boom in Norfolk. Three amateur leagues of eight clubs each have sprung up, and there are one or more professionals on each club-men who have played and are capable of playing real baseball- and it is believed by many that this opposition will prove to be the tonic needed here for several years. Horace Volmer, a local sport writer, and Robert Doyle, business manager of the Tars, are greatly responsible for the success of this movement."

Richmond

1912-4-03 "Constitution and by-laws for the government of amateur baseball in the city of Richmond, Va."
+ pic of Mr. Hart, Ashland MG.
Rule 1 - playing season should run from 1st Saturday of April to no later than August 15.
2 - leagues should have no less than four and no more than eight teams.
Rule #4 of playing season rules: "No player or manager shall receive any money or any thing of value, promise or remuneration or valuable considerations for playing on a team under the jurisdiction of the commission...."
Rule 9 - max roster of 14 players. No player who has played on or been a member of any team under the national agreement shall be eligible to play with any team a party to this constitution and subject to its rules, who shall have played with a national agreement club on the 15th of June of the current year."
10 - Players cannot play without signing contract.
11 - "The right of all clubs in all leagues to the services of their players shall be absolute" except that class A clubs can draft players from lower classifications from 8-10 to 8-15, class B from 8-16 to 8-21, class C from 8-22 to 8-27. "Where two or more players enter a draft for the same player the club securing the services of the player shall be determined by lot."
13 - All clubs in all leagues can reserve players from season to season, "excepting where in conflict with the drafting rules."
    15- Trading.

1926-8-14 The Board of Governors of the Amateur Commission has ruled that the West Point club is not a semi-pro club, and therefore Rob Brenaman, Yellow Cab pitcher, and Rex Tignor, North Richmond catcher, are not ineligible for amateur play. Account of case.
1926-6-19 Previews for Sat. Game listings for all leagues, parks listed.
"Ever since its organization, the Class AA League arrested the interest of every ardent fan in the city. Always the games have been verily, close and interesting. That's why one attends these more than other contests on tap at the same time. Last year there were a few stains to mar the league. This year none of that is evident - the four teams are rolling along to perfection. We hope nothing will hinder its progress again."
Bryant's C&O Fulton team may be the best in the city. Has won its last 22 games. Plays in the East End League - beat Lord Reading last Sunday.
Rumor has it that Joe Boehling has signed with the Eagles.

1926-8-07 Standings, boxes.
Pics of two Glen Echo pitchers + "Rats" Kahn, Dixie Eagles & Lord Reading shortstop. In his return with the Eagles, Kahn homered but made five errors. Rats Kahn worked out with Syracuse IL - away for a few weeks.
    Buck Chewning won 6-5.
"A collection was taken up at both games in the class AA league yesterday for a memorial for the late Hotchkiss and Chewning, these collections netting about $75."
Charlie Wood = Dixie Eagles MG. Played first and made three hits yesterday.
Dixie Eagles have same roster as Lord Reading.
Charlie Strain = North Richmond MG.
"Nig" Gentry, Eagles catcher, is "truly wonderful" though the fans do not appreciate this.
