1916-7-25 "[Vancouver manager Bob] Brown stopped off yesterday morning in Spokane long enough to talk things over with Clink and Zienke and notified both of them that he would count on them to be in uniform for the last nine games of the season..."
"Clink, a right-handed pitcher, reported to Brown early in April and spent three weeks in the Vancouver training camp. When the team arrived In Spokane for the opening series of the season Clink was with the Beavers, but owing to the low player limit in the league he decided to stay in Spokane and hold down his position and pitch semi-pro ball this season.
At the time Brown had Acosta, Russell, Hood, Callahan and Leard in his pitching department and Clink did not believe the time was ripe for him to try to dislodge any of the veterans from the staff.
Zienke was given a trial by the tribe late last season and the tall lad looked good, so he was taken on again this spring, but with Mensor, Harper, Reuthers and Neighbors from which to select his outfield, Williams did not have a chance to use the lad.
This summer Zienke has shown good form in the semi-professional games, where his slugging has been a feature. Brown has agreed to work both of the local players regularly during the closing series of the season here August 28 to September 4."
1916-8-12 "Clarence Zienke, local semi-professional ball player, will leave Spokane on Sunday night for Montana to join the Vancouver club of the Northwestern league to finish out the season. Bob Brown wired George Clink, semi-pro pitcher, and Zienke to report at once, but Clink will be unable to join the Beavers until later in the month.
Brown closed arrangements with the two players two weeks ago to don a Vancouver uniform and play the last nine games of the season in Spokane with the Canucks, but the Vancouver boss has found the going decidedly heavy in Montana this week and sent cut the call for reinforcements before the opening of the Great Falls series next week.
Clink will report to Bob Brown when the Vancouver club arrives in Spokane on August 28 to open the closing series of the season."
1916-9-13 "Clarence Zienke, the Spokane semi-pro baseball player who was given a trial by Spokane last spring and who finished the season with Vancouver. was successfully operated on yesterday by Dr. Phy for floating cartilage of the knee, and is reported this morning at the Sacred Heart hospital, as doing nicely.
Zienke injured his knee two years ago, but had no special trouble with it until soon after he joined the Vancouver club in Butte in August. While playing outfield he threw the knee out. After several days' rest he came to Spokane with the Beavers and played outfield, but again injured his weak knee and was forced to do bench duty practically the entire last week of the season.
An examination by Dr. Phy revealed a floating cartilage and as an operation was the only chance for permanent relief, the ball player consented to go under the knife. Zienke's leg will be in condition for him to join the Beavers again in the spring."
1916-9-15 Clarence Zienke. One of three Spokane semi-pros on Vancouver reserved list for 1917. "All three were suspended for failure to report last spring..."

1918-4-23 "Clarence Zienke, local semi-pro baseball player who tried out with the Tribe on two different occasions, has signed a contract with the Aberdeen club of the Pacific Coast International league team, and has left to join the Black Cats.
Zienke tried with the Indians in 1916 and again in 1917. He was injured last spring or would probably have made a place. He is a good fielder and an average hitter.
Manager Dick Egan arrived in Aberdeen to take charge of that club this week and practice is now under way."
1919-6-05 Victoria team breaking up for the year.
1920-5-13"Clarence Zinke of Spokane, ex-Spokane City league baseball player and for one season a member of the Spokane team of the Northwestern league and now a member of the Victoria club of the Pacific International league, was married in Tacoma last week to Miss Ruth Miller of Tacoma.
According to the report from the City of Destiny, Zink and his bride were sweethearts for years. The newlyweds will reside in Victoria during the months that the baseball schedule of the Pacific International league is active, then they expect to locate in one of the Coast cities for the winter months.
While in Spokane, Zinke was one of the hardest hitters in the City league and when he broke into professional ranks he quickly became recognized as a sticker of high caliber. He is counted one of the surest fielders in the league. His only real fault as a professional ball player is his lack of speed."
