Bangor had ten men stranded on the bags. Temple ought to divide some of his $30 with Blethen and Albert, who play for fun, for they saved him considerable trouble by some fine catches of dangerous drives at critical times."

really cool - 1905 scorecard for Portland v. Lynn - with Harry Lord & Eddie Grant.

1924-8-18 The Lewiston Athletics (Interstate League) were beating the Augusta Millionaires (Maine League) 3-0 when in the eighth inning "the first base bleachers at the [Lewiston] athletic park collapsed, hurling nearly 500 men and women to the ground in a jumble of persons and lumber. Many were hurt, but it is thought none seriously." The game was viewed by the largest crowd of the season - 2000. The Athletics are now leading the series, two games to one.

Hormidas "Husky" Aube

1926-4-19 W/ pic. John J. Magee, Bowdoin athletic coach and commissioner of the Amateur Athletic Union in Maine, considers the 1925 Rockland team to have been professional. As Aube played with them, he will presumably be declared ineligible.
"Aube was transferred to Westbrook High School from Catholic High last Fall. At Catholic he was beaten by Westbrook High, which won the championship."

1926-5-05 Beat his old school, Catholic High, 8-1 as he k'd 17.
1926-6-19 Won 1-0 and k'd 14 for Westbrook HS before 1.5K fans, ending his high school career with a bang.

Brint McClellan

1933-6-04 Boston Globe. Hit grand slams in successive innings. Each time the bases were loaded in the same way - walk, hit, walk.

Elmer Rising

1924-8-18 Won 3-2 for Easterns v. hometown Rockland in exhibition. Passed up WSA tryout to play with Easterns. Returning to his hometown of Rockland, he "received a greeting of which a presidential candidate might have been justly proud. The business of the city was practically suspended at 5 o'clock and a crowd of nearly 3000 arose as one person when the schoolboy twirler walked into the box." Presented a gold watch by the mayor. Rockland imported a Boston Twilight pitcher, who played under the name of Roberts, but he could not outpitch our Elmer Rising.

Portland Green Sox
1924-7-29 The Kavanaugh Kids are 14-3. Team now has four pitchers.
REALLY COOL pic of Bob Tecarr demonstrating his pitching grips.
