1930-11-11 Santa Cruz. Mickey Hannan will leave 11-13 to return to his home in San Francisco to visit his mother, who has been ill. He will try to make good in the San Francisco Winter League but if that fails, he will return to Watsonville, accept employment, and play for the Owls.
1930-11-13  Santa Cruz. Mickey Hannan leaves today. He was one of the best young players to play here in years. Wasn't a heavy hitter, but at second base he was second in the State League only to Sammy Bohne.
The San Francisco Seals gave Harry Hooper $50 as the league's leading hitter. "Asked about his future plans, Harry said he would leave for Princeton, New Jersey, in February and be there until June, when he will return to Santa Cruz.
His contract with the university is for two years at a very good salary and Mrs. Hooper will accompany him. Princeton will have 26 games to play throughout the east with other universities and he has a sizeable bunch lined up for the team."
"The mayor asked him if there would be any chance of his playing with the Santa Cruz team when he returned, but Hooper stated his plans were indefinite as to next year.
He said he was heartily in favor of giving local players a chance. "I think the local club should have three or four local players on the staff. We have some wonderful young material around Santa Cruz," he stated.
"Take Jess Sousa of Soquel for one. The boy is a very good ball player and all he needs is a chance to make good and there are plenty of others who can play good baseball."

    Peltier Orientals - Chinese team.

1915-4-15 $1000 prize. Schedule chosen by Board of Control. "The Sacramento Jovians are backed by the Order of Jovians, composed of Sacramento electrical men." Giants No. 1 is black team, with Jim Longus as pitcher. Longus lead Woodland HS to Northern California championship.
1914-7-06 league may be disbanded over money fighting.

1915-4-18 Sacramento Bee has all boxes.
"The Oak Park Club went on to a nice, sociable little baseball strike before the game. A rule of the league has been made that there is no free list and that everyone except the players and the officials of the league must pay 25 cents to attend the games. The rule was made so the player's percentage of the gate after the first six games would not be cut down by a long free list.
The Parkers appeared at the ground shortly after 1 o'clock and when asked to pay for their wives, fathers, uncles, and, in some cases, grandfathers, they objected. The Board of Control met when informed that the Park boys would not play unless they were refunded the money they had to pay for their friends.

Siskiyou County League
    1926

1926-6-27 Dunsmuir. Box, standings, play by play. Importance of game necessitated three umpires. Mt. Shasta leading with 6-0 record.
1927-8-07 Dunsmuir. Stroud lost to Mt. Shasta.
Chick Galeria, now with Medford, watched game.
Sailor Stroud recommended Gene Spores, Dunsmuir shortstop, to Marty Krug for his L.A. team. Spores will try-out. Spores has been hitting .358 this season for Dunsmuir.
"Spores' change with the Angels is through the courtesy of Ralph (Sailor) Stroud, who pitched a couple of games for the Oaks the last two weeks. Stroud knew of the desires of Krug and as soon as he saw Spores. perform in the Weed game two weeks ago, asked him if he would accept a position with the Angels. Spores said he would and Stroud then wrote Krug of his find. Krug immediately sent word to Spores to join the Angels last Monday as they passed through Dunsmuir going to Portland from the south. Spores at that time could not get a lay-off and not wish- ing to take a chance at being stranded without a job in case he should not land a berth with the Los Angeles team, withheld joining until his vacation was granted by the Southern Pacific.
This is Spores' second break into the Pacific Coast league circles. Last spring he went to training camp with the San Francisco club. It rained the first ten days of the training season and William McCarthy, Seal head, released almost two dozen rookies without a trial, Spores being among the unlucky ones.
The various bush league teams that have been organized in Siskiyou county during the past decade have become more or less famous for their rookie material. Player after player has dropped from the Siskiyou lineups, only to re-appear again shortly in one of the Pacific Coast league teams. At the present time there are players. in the National and American leagues who can lay their start to performing on the sandlots of Siskiyou county and this week sees the start of another local player up the ladder. At least it is hoped by Gene's many friends here that he is on his way up the ladder."
Spores, Crip Toomey, Biggs, and Stroud out of Dunsmuir lineup for next Sunday - new men obtained.

    1909-8-28 report
1910-8-04 Pajaronian. "The poor showing made in the second half by the Monterey Club has occasioned no small amount of unfavorable comment and many fans are in doubt as to the real standing of the team as far as class is concerned. Many of the fans believe that the weak. team which has represented Monterey the past two Sundays, will be the one that plays the Pippins here Sunday. The fans believing this are in error and will have another thing coming. The fact of the matter is that the team coming here Sunday to tackle the locals is considered one of the fastest in the State and is the only San Francisco team that defeated the famous Newman team this season. Here are the facts. The Monterey team in this league does not contain one Monterey man but is made up entirely of San Francisco Presidio soldiers with a few Coast and State Leaguers added to its lineup. On the opening day of the second half the regular Presidio team had a date to play Modesto and a weak team was sent to Gilroy, which the Gilroyans tore to pieces. Last Sunday another mixup occurred of a similar nature and the Lash's Bitters team went down to Salinas to be trampled on. But no more of that business. From now on the regular San Francisco Presidio team will play in this league and next Sunday it will make its first appearance on the circuit against Watsonville. "Bull" Frink, the man who made Salinas lose early in the first half, will pitch against Watsonville and Frink is as good as any twirler on the circuit.
Van Otterman of the Missouri State League will be on the bench in case Frink happens to aviate, which is not likely.
`The fans want to rid their minds of all doubt about the team coming here Sunday. They will be a hard nut to crack."
1912-3-21 Pajaronian. Season will open 4-28. Lists former players now in college - former players now in pros. Walter Frink, who used to pitch for George Fraser's San Francisco team in the league, is in jail in WA on a charge of robbery. Ex-Watsonville Pippin Raymond Bartlett is again working at the Agnew asylum and pitches for its team. Former Pippin catcher Jack Rutledge has a big law business in San Francisco but still catches for the Olympic Club. etc.

Washington Township League
    1912 Newark
    1913

1913-6-18 (Santa Cruz) Newark has a 9-1 record; its only loss was a 3-2 11-inning effort by Fodder Dolan.
1913-7-02 (Santa Cruz) Newark has a salaried team - won the pennant last year. The Washington Township League is composed of five teams from Alameda County, all of which are respectable.
Wiggs is one of the highest priced pitchers of the bushes.
Newark's catcher, Bert McLoud [McLeod?] has refused a number of pro offers
1913-8-09 Newark & Niles were tied for 1st but Newark won out last week when their catcher hit a two-run triple off Fodder Dolan. The fans threw him $52.

    1913-8-03 (line) Newark 3, Niles 2. Wiggs k'd 12 - Dolan, 16.
